Image Release Note 0018: NCAP Upload

Summary
This release comprises a mix of material from the Directorate of Overseas Surveys (DOS) and Ministry of Defence (MOD) sources, notably the Joint Air Reconnaissance Intelligence Centre (JARIC). DOS imagery in this release brings extensive coverage of the British territories of the Falkland Islands and Hong Kong (which was handed over to China in 1997) to Air Photo Finder through the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. This includes a small amount of imagery from 1982 and the lead up to the Falklands War.
Twentieth-century European coverage from JARIC is extensive. It spans the end of the Second World War to the fall of the Berlin Wall, with imagery of France and Germany in the west, Italy in the south and Poland and Hungary in the east, among much else. This is complemented by representation of countries further afield, such as Malawi, Iran and Malaysia, all places where the United Kingdom had a strategic interest during the Cold War.
