News Retiral of the NCAP Legacy Website

Retiral of the NCAP Legacy Website

A person wearing a blue lab coat with the NCAP logo holds a black and white aerial photographic print in black-gloved hands.

As part of our ongoing commitment to cybersecurity, we are retiring the legacy ncap.org.uk website on 24 June 2025. From that date our new platform – ncap.org – will be the gateway for NCAP online services.

Why the Change?

Our new online platform offers a modern, streamlined experience, making it easier and faster to find, view, and purchase historic aerial imagery. While we understand that change can be disruptive, these updates are essential to ensure long-term service quality and sustainability.

To ensure a smooth transition, key information pages from the NCAP legacy website will be automatically redirected to the new platform. We are accelerating the digitisation of our collections to make larger volumes of imagery available than ever before but appreciate that some imagery currently available will not become available again online for an extended period of time.

What’s Changing?

  • Legacy Website Closure: The old site will be decommissioned on 24 June 2025.
  • Image Access: We are currently in the process of transferring imagery onto the new platform - at this stage the first 200,000 images have been made available.  Our next major upload this summer will bring the total number of images available to nearly 1 million. Be sure to keep an eye on our newsletter for updates.
  • User Accounts: Accounts from the legacy site will not be transferred. Saved images, favourites, and galleries will no longer be accessible after the switch-off date.
  • Subscriptions: A new subscription model is coming soon. We appreciate your patience during this temporary gap in service.
  • Refunds: If you’ve purchased an annual subscription in the past 12 months, our team will soon contact you directly with refund information.

Supporting Our Users

We understand that this transition may cause inconvenience, especially for our paid subscribers. Please know that our team is working hard to deliver a better, more powerful platform. We’re confident the improvements will be worth the wait.

Finding Aids

We’re also working to make finding aids available via subscription. In the meantime, do please get in touch with the NCAP sales team if you are looking for not-yet-digitised aerial photographs or have any related questions.
